Lotto Winner Spreads Joy
Taranaki has a new millionaire after a New Plymouth woman claimed a $1 million prize she won with Lotto’s Christmas Promotion. While the winner had read in the paper that the hunt was on for Taranaki’s lucky millionaire, she didn’t think it would be her and soon forgot about it. “I regularly buy Lotto tickets from Westown Lotto, but I didn’t remember I had a voucher for the promotion – it just didn’t gel,” laughed the winner.
“So I couldn’t believe it when they scanned the ticket and told me I was the winner everyone had been looking for – it wasn’t until I spoke to Lotto and they calmly told me I had won a million dollars that I began to realise I wasn’t dreaming.” Despite being in shock, the winner’s first thought was to share her good fortune with others in the community.
“When I have a spare dollar I like to buy a $1 Instant Kiwi ticket and stick it on a random person’s windscreen.
“So when I found out I was a big winner I emptied my wallet and used the cash to buy 50 $1 Instant Kiwi tickets. Then I walked around town placing them on windscreens along with a note wishing each person a happy day.” But the generosity won’t stop there, with the winner already thinking about how she can use the money to bring more joy to the New Plymouth community.
“I’m looking forward to doing random acts of kindness like that more often and putting more smiles on the faces of people in the community – after all, $50 is just a drop in the bucket now!”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought her ticket from Westown Lotto in New Plymouth.
